More information

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the blue eucalyptus, a remarkable tree native to Australia.

This essential oil has a long history of use in traditional Aboriginal medicine for its medicinal properties.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have long used the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus (along with many other species), externally and internally for wound healing, decongestion and pain relief.

It is widely recognized around the world for its beneficial effects on the respiratory system.

When inhaled, it can help clear the airways in cases of congestion due to colds or flu.

In addition to its respiratory properties, Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is often used to relieve muscle and joint pain.

It can be added to massage oils to promote muscle relaxation and relieve tension.

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is also known for its antiparasitic properties.

Some add it to body lotions or sprays to help repel mosquitoes and other unwanted insects.

In aromatherapy, Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is often diffused into the air to create a refreshing, invigorating, mentally stimulating atmosphere, helping to improve concentration and relieve stress.

It has acclimatized well in other parts of the world and commercial cultivation has spread to Mediterranean countries, South Africa and China.

The word "eucalyptus" comes from the Greek "eu" (i.e. "good") and the word "kalypto" means "to cover", because the petals and sepals of the flowers of this species are fused.

The cream-colored flowers produce an abundance of nectar that bees appreciate and transform into a strong-flavored honey.

The oil distilled from the leaves has therapeutic and aromatic properties.

It is important to note that Eucalyptus globulus essential oil should be used with caution.
