Cautions and warnings:
Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.
Keep out of reach of children.
If accidental ingestion occurs, seek urgent medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the eye contour area, neither into the ears. In case of contact, apply a plenty of vegetable oil and take promptly medical advice.
If symptoms persist or worsen when using essential oil, consult a health care practitioner.
If you have epilepsy or asthma, consult a health care practitioner prior to use.
Avoid exposure of applied area(s) to the sun.

The recumbent wintergreen is known for its powerful analgesic and anti-inflammatory action, this small native plant, also in the form of essential oil, is used against all arthritic and muscular disorders: cramps, tendonitis, arthritis or rheumatism.

It is also used as a deodorant and antiseptic in chewing gums, toothpastes and mouthwashes.

Origin of this essential oil

This recumbent wintergreen oil (also called wild tea) from China is distilled from the leaves of the plant.

Cautions

Keep away from children, air, heat and light.

 

  • As with all essential oils, it is recommended to first perform a skin test in the bend of the elbow to check that no skin reaction appears.
  • It is imperative to dilute the essential oil of fragrant Wintergreen, in order to avoid any risk of irritation or intoxication, and to be able to continue to use it in the long term.
  • During surgery, stop using fragrant wintergreen at least 48 hours before.
  • store out of reach of children.

More information

Wintergreen or Fragrant Wintergreen is an evergreen robust shrub reaching up to 2m in height.

Leaves are evergreen, aromatic, ovate to lanceolate, smooth above and gland dotted, and with bases of bristles beneath.

Plants have numerous axillary spikes like clusters of small fragrant white or pink flowers.

Fruits are violet or blue.

This plant is endemic to the Himalaya and found naturally in upper tropical and temperate regions of Nepal, within the altitude of 1500m to 2700m.

It favours rocky dry slopes.

Leaves and aerial twigs are sustainably harvested from the natural forest.
