Words by Mikaël

Tradition has it that these citrus fruits were first brought to Berga, Italy by Christopher Columbus...hence the name.

The oil, which has a sweet and spicy lemony scent, is extracted from the skin of a small fruit that looks like an orange.

Bergamot was historically used in Italy to treat malaria and as an antiseptic.

Used during the 18th and 19th centuries to flavor gin, today bergamot is well known as the distinctive flavor of Earl Gray tea.

Regeneration

Bergamot purifies old energies stored by the body.

it opens to the metamorphosis of oneself.

Confidence chases away negative feelings and success becomes a certainty.

Relaxing, digestive, anxyolitic.

Words by Anny Schneider

What a sweet perfume it is that of the Bergamot, also called bitter orange !

It can easily be used alone as a perfume, applied on clothing, wrists and behind the ear.

Bergamot is soothing, euphoric, and helps to lower blood pressure as well as nervous tension.

Bergamot is used as a scent in several perfumes and even in confectionery, for its fruity and sophisticated taste.

At the therapeutic level, it helps to arouse good humor, to purify and bring joy back to the heart.

⇒ Like all citrus essential oils, bergamot can irritate certain sensitive skin and makes it photosensitizing (so it is important not to expose yourself to the sun after a treatment).

Origin of this essential oil

This essential oil of Bergamot from Italy is obtained from the zest of the fruits.

Properties

With an elegant and fresh aroma, its calming, positive and purifying properties promote a state of well-being and relaxation.

In cosmetic care, it treats oily skin or oily hair by regulating sebum secretion.

Cautions

Keep away from children, air, heat and light.

Like all citrus essential oils, Bergamot can irritate certain sensitive skin and makes it photosensitizing (it is therefore advisable not to expose yourself to the sun after a treatment).

More information

Originally from Italy, bergamot is a small citrus fruit that looks like lemon, with a thick green-yellow skin.

When ripe, it weighs between 80 and 200 g maximum.

As it is used relatively little in food form, it is difficult to find it in its natural state on market stalls.

On the other hand, its use in the form of essential oil is much more common: this is the main reason for its cultivation on the Calabrian coast.

Other countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Guinea and especially Ivory Coast produce Bergamot essential oil.

It is an ideal essential oil for diffusion or for doing dry or wet inhalations.

Bergamot essential oil contains, among other things:

  • limonene
  • linalool
  • linalyl acetate
  • monoterpene esters
  • aldehydes
  • coumarins
