More information

It is a small tree (about 20m high) native to southeastern Australia that likes light, well-exposed places, light, cool and deep soils.

It fears the cold and therefore does not grow in Canada.

It is easy to recognize with its grey-white bark which flakes off into long brown strips over time.

The adult leaves are alternate, leathery and pendulous.

The flowers are very specific.

"dives" means "rich" in Latin, the European discoverers gave it this name because of its richness in essential oil.

It is traditionally used in pathologies of obstruction of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract or ENT.

Attention although it is well tolerated by the cutaneous route, its use is prohibited in children under 6 years old and pregnant or breastfeeding women because of its possible toxicity on the nervous system.

Anti-infective properties have been found against Gram+ (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram- (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria which are often responsible for nosocomial diseases *(V. -G. de Billerbeck.
