Eucalyptus globulus is one of the most widely used essences in aromatherapy.
It is also, with the radiata, one of the most widespread eucalyptus species among the hundreds of varieties.
In Ernest Guenther’s book, "Les huiles essentielles", published around 1948, there is the chemical composition of more than 100 varieties of eucalyptus.
This type of eucalyptus essential oil has particularly expectorant and mucolytic properties.
It is the oil of saunas, spas and houses of cure to cure diseases of the lungs.
It can be used in inhalation, vapour bath or diffuser.
This eucalyptus essential oil from China is distilled from the leaves of the tree.
The eucalyptus globulus also called eucalyptus commun, blue gum tree or «koala tree» is a tree of the family Myrtaceae native to Australia.
It has become well acclimated in other parts of the world and commercial cultivation has spread to the Mediterranean countries, South Africa and China.
The word “eucalyptus” comes from the Greek word “eu” (i.e., “good”) and the word “kalypto” means “cover”, because the petals and sepals of the flowers of this species are welded together.
Cream-coloured flowers produce an abundance of nectar that bees appreciate and turn into honey with a pronounced flavour.
Aboriginal and island peoples of the Torres Strait have long used the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus (along with many other species), externally and internally for healing, decongestion and pain relief.
The oil distilled from the leaves has therapeutic and aromatic properties.
