Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.
Keep out of reach of children.
If accidental ingestion occurs, seek urgent medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the eye contour area, neither into the ears. In case of contact, apply a plenty of vegetable oil and take promptly medical advice.
If symptoms persist or worsen when using essential oil, consult a health care practitioner.
If you have epilepsy or asthma, consult a health care practitioner prior to use.
Avoid exposure of applied area(s) to the sun.

Ceylon citronella essential oil is described as fresh, oily, camphorated

 

According to Doctor JM. Morel (wikiphyto.org), Ceylon lemongrass essential oil has the following properties:

  • Anti-infectious especially in the urogenital and cutaneous areas
  • Moderately antibacterial but synergistic with antibiotic therapy by geraniol
  • Antifungal activity on Trichosporon ovoides, agent of a mycosis of the scalp, with peppermint (Mentha piperita), Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus globulus)
  • Antiacne, antibacterial on Propionibacterium acnes
  • Anti-inflammatory and analgesic
  • Anticonvulsant by activity on GABAergic neurotransmission (Verbena of India (Cymbopogon citratus) has a superior effect by citral, Java lemongrass (Cymbopogon winterianus) less by citronellal)
  • Acaricide but less than pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium)
  • Deodorant and atmospheric antiseptic
  • Mosquito repellent, a mixture of sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) EO is insecticide and larvicide on the Aedes aegypti mosquito, vector of dengue fever
  • Wasp repellent

This Ceylon Citronella essential oil is composed of:

  • geraniol (18-20%),
  • limonene (9-11%),
  • methyl-isoeugenol (7-11%),
  • citronellol (6-8%),
  • and citronellal (5-15%)
