Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.

More information
Aframomum melegueta is a species in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, and closely related to cardamom that grows in moist places.
They are herbaceous plants whose stems reach 2 m in height from creeping rhizome.
The leaves are sessile, glabrous, lanceolate 18-22 cm long.
Its trumpet-shaped purple flowers grow in pods 5-7 cm long, containing many small reddish-brown seeds.
Its seeds are used as a spice (ground or whole); it imparts a pungent, black pepper-like flavor with citrus notes.
It is commonly known as grains of paradise, melegueta pepper, maniguette, malaguette, meleguette, guinea pepper and guinea seeds, ossame or fom wisa, and is confused with alligator pepper.
The term Guinea pepper should most often be applied to Xylopia aethiopica (grains of Selim).
In West African folk medicine, grains of paradise are valued for their heating and digestive properties, and among the Efik in Nigeria they have been used for divination and guilt-determining ordeals.
A. melegueta has been introduced to the Caribbean and Latin America, where it is used in religious rituals (voodoo).
