Words by Mikaël

Crithmum maritimum, commonly known as Sea Fennel or Rock samphire is a perennial plant that prefers cliffs and rocks on the ocean shorelines.

A halophilic plant (from the Greek halos, salt and philein, love: which loves salt) it needs these high concentration of salt which are deadly to more terrestrial plants.

This plant is active to the entire Mediterranean basin, it was well known by the great authors of antiquity who cited it especially for its medicinal properties. Its food use appears from this time: preserved in brine, eaten raw or cooked with cabbage, eaten in salad.

Its hydrolat is very soft and moisturizing. Crithmum maritimum is a good skin regenerator, it is very popular in cosmetics for its beneficial draining and firming action.

Words by Anny Schneider

The hydrolat of this seaside plant native to Greece has decongestant and diuretic properties.

Origin

This organic hydrolat of sea fennel from Greece is distilled from the aerial parts of the plant.
