This hydrosol is obtained by distillation of the flowering tops of organically grown sweet cicely in Canada.
This plant has absolutely no relation to myrrh (Commiphora molmol) which is a resin with very different properties and which comes from the Middle East.
It also has no relation to the myrtle (Myrtus communis) a shrub from the shores of the Mediterranean.
The fresh, raw leaves, with a characteristic aniseed smell, can be used to flavor salads and raw vegetables, omelets and soups.
The seeds are used to flavor desserts and to prepare liqueurs.
Sweet cicely is also called cicely, myrrh, garden myrrh, and sweet chervil.
