The Archangel Gabriel, the messenger, one of the four upper archangels, is one of the two angels mentioned namely in the New Testament (the other being the Archangel Mikael). Angel of the Annunciation, Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Marie. Also present when Jesus died, he watched his grave and announced his resurrection to the disciples. We say he inspired Joan of Arc.
